NationTalk: Yellowknife, NT – Premier R.J. Simpson, Minister Caroline Wawzonek, Minister Caitlin Cleveland, Minister Lucy Kuptana, Minister Jay Macdonald, Minister Vince McKay, and Minister Lesa Semmler met with the Délı̨nę Got’ı̨nę Government Ɂekw’ahtı̨dǝ́ Danny Gaudet, Ɂekw’ahtı̨Raymond Taneton Délı̨nę K’aowǝdóKǝ members, Leonard Kenny, Christopher Yukon, Gina Dolphus, Jonas Modeste, and Dora Blondin, as well as Marion Mackeinzo as Elders Representative on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
The meeting focused on areas of mutual interest, including:
- working together to address health needs and information sharing;
- work together in planning around education including early childhood and JK-12;
- identifying areas for continued collaboration on critical infrastructure in Délı̨nę;
- outlining areas of shared interest for joint federal engagement including clean energy and climate resilience; and
- continuing to discuss the impacts of climate change and the importance of collaboration in emergency management efforts.
This was the fourth meeting of the two governments under the Intergovernmental MOU and continues to build on the strong relationship by collaborating and addressing key issues of impacting Délı̨nę residents.

- The Intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding recognizes the importance of the government-to-government relationship between the Délı̨nę Got’ı̨nę Government and the Government of the Northwest Territories.
- The agreement commits both governments to meet at least once per year.
- The Intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding between the Délı̨nę Got’ı̨nę Government and the Government of the Northwest Territories was signed in June 2019 for a four-year term, and was renewed for a four-year term in November 2023.
