September 10, 2024

NationTalk: Vancouver, BC — September 10, 2024 — The Indigenomics Institute is proud to host the upcoming Indigenomics SHE event, an empowering gathering of Indigenous women in business. The event celebrates and amplifies the voices of Indigenous women in business leadership. This dynamic event, set to take place on September 23-24, 2024, in Winnipeg, MB, will bring together Indigenous women executive leaders, entrepreneurs, and visionaries from across the country to share their stories, strategies, and successes in shaping the Indigenous economy.

Indigenomics SHE: Empowering Indigenous Women

Indigenomics SHE is an integral part of the Indigenomics Institute’s broader mission to support the growth and design of the $100 billion Indigenous economy in Canada. This event highlights the critical role that Indigenous women play in driving economic development, fostering community well-being, and leading with the principles of reciprocity, respect, and sustainability at the forefront of their work.

The event will feature keynote addresses from influential Indigenous women leaders, including Carol Anne Hilton, Founder of the Indigenomics Institute, delivering the keynote “Leading From The Edge,” Victoria LaBillois, President of Wejipeg Excavation Inc., with keynote “A Mindset of Abundance: Being Intentional In Your Relationship With Money.” and Laurie Sterritt, Managing Partner, Pathways Executive Search with keynote “Values Alignment: Digging Deep Through Leadership Challenges”.

Plenary sessions will showcase inspiring leaders such as Tanya Tourangeau of Tanya T Consulting, Kara Moss from TELUS and Heather Ranville from RBC discussing Indigenous Women Leading the Way in Corporate Reconciliation. Additional sessions will include Breaking Generational Cycles to Heal Our Lineage with Rachael Hunt, Indigenous Retail and Fashion with Andreanne Dandeneau and Trisha Pitura and How Change Labs Is Creating a Small Business Economy with Holly Patterson and Alisha Murphy, Economist for Navajo Nation. These sessions aim to foster dialogue and collaboration, providing invaluable insights into the dynamic growth of the Indigenous economy.

A key feature of Indigenomics SHE is the Indigenomics Wealth Dynamics session—designed as a strengths-based experience that empowers participants with a full spectrum of content focusing on personal and collective financial empowerment. This unique session will cover financial management education, provides the space for important reflections on our current and historical relationship with money, and reflects on Indigenous concepts of commerce and abundance. This session aims to redefine our relationship with wealth beyond financial capital, to include cultural, social, and environmental capital, while empowering Indigenous women to lead in creating sustainable, community-focused economic models for generational wealth building.

Carol Anne Hilton, CEO of the Indigenomics Institute and Host, on the Importance of Indigenomics SHE:

“Indigenous women have always been at the heart of our communities, serving as leaders, decision-makers, and custodians of our economic practices. Indigenomics SHE is about recognizing and elevating their contributions to the modern Indigenous economy. This event is a space for Indigenous women to come together, share their knowledge, and inspire the next generation of leaders who will continue to drive economic growth and sustainability.”
