Why “IN PROGRESS”?
Aug. 11, 2021: Toronto Star – The federal government committed $20M to build a national monument in Ottawa to honour the survivors of residential schools and all the children who were lost. It will be a commemorative space where Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples can gather “to express their collective grief and find a way forward to heal together. No other details or timelines have been announced.

The Government of Canada is committed to implementing all calls to action. Work on Call to Action 81 is in early planning stages, specifically for engagement with Indigenous peoples.
