APTN News: The RCMP in Inuvik, N.W.T. say they’ve charged the assistant superintendent at the Beaufort-Delta Education Council with “multiple sexual offences” following an investigation.

According to police, Richard McKinnon, 44, was arrested on Aug. 5 and charged with “two counts of Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, two counts of Sexual Exploitation, Invitation to Sexual Touching, Making Sexually Explicit Material Available to a Child, Assault, and Breach of Trust.”

The police statement didn’t say how many victims were involved.

Police say MacKinnon has been released and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 24.

“Investigators feel that due to the nature of the McKinnon’s position in these communities, there may be additional victims,” said the statement from the RCMP.

“Anyone who feels they could be a victim, or has concerns about someone else who could be a victim, is encouraged to contact your local RCMP detachment or police of jurisdiction or Crime Stoppers.
