Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services (OAHS) is pleased to announce the release of our Strategic Plan 2024-2034. Over the next decade, this plan will guide our mission to provide safe, affordable, and culturally appropriate housing for Indigenous people across Ontario, while continuing our leadership role in Indigenous housing advocacy.
The OAHS Strategic Plan 2024-2034 outlines ambitious goals, including the creation of 10,000 new housing units for Indigenous people in urban, rural, and northern communities. With a commitment to environmental sustainability, innovative housing models, and community-led development, the plan emphasizes the need for holistic approaches that respect Indigenous culture and respond to evolving housing needs.
Key priorities include:
- Growth and care of housing assets, ensuring 10,000 new units by 2034.
- Advocating for Indigenous-led housing policy and environmental stewardship.
- Strengthening partnerships with municipalities, governments, and Indigenous organizations.
- Expanding data collection to guide housing development decisions.
“As we move into the future, this Strategic Plan will help us build not just houses, but homes that foster well-being and cultural pride,” said Justin Marchand, CEO of OAHS.
OAHS has been a key partner in addressing the housing crisis for Indigenous communities, with over 3,000 housing units currently managed and plans to continue this expansion.
