Urban Commitments to Reconciliation

Transformative Actions for UNDRIP Advancement

October 30, 2024

At the Real Estate Foundation of British’s Columbia (REFBC), we are committed to working in partnership with First Nations and supporting reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. Taking steps to uphold the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) is central to this commitment.

Today, we’re pleased to share our plan, Transformative Actions for UNDRIP Advancement (TAUA), with you.

The TAUA report identifies 50 actions for the Foundation to undertake in support of UNDRIP implementation. The staff and board of REFBC are deeply committed to following through on these actions, which relate to our grantmaking, operations, and governance. We will report on our progress on a yearly basis.

We are grateful to Tara Marsden/Naxginkw of Hlimoo Sustainable Solutions for authoring the report and facilitating the monthslong engagement process. We’d also like to thank all who have joined us in conversations, responded to surveys, and offered us insightful feedback.

Look out for our first Transformative Actions progress report in November 2025.

If you have any questions or comments, please let us know at undrip@refbc.ca.

Thank you.
